Step 6: Sandstone Cavern (Arena of 10th colossus)

The sixth step is the arena where we face the 10th colossus named Snake and nicknamed by the players of Dirge.

In the previous stage of the mystery, there were several "eyes" symbols in the Arena of the 15th colossus, in which, this brought us to the arena of the number 10 colossus because it possesses immense eyes.

As we enter the arena on both sides, we see a bat group coming toward us. In addition, above the cave, we come across a giant tree, along with several young shoots seen through the hole in the center of the arena.

The Enigma Behind the Colossal Tree

The legend of the Black Bird came about when very few players say they have ever seen, once in a lifetime, a huge black bird wandering near the Colossal Tree and that this bird resembles one of the supposed "excluded colossi" called Roc, which was nicknamed Avus by the fans. However, the reasons for this extremely rare phenomenon are unknown, perhaps it happens in the case of "luck" or maybe it is a "bug" of the game. All that is known is that the lucky players who saw him tried to shoot several arrows to attract their attention, but the enormous creature always ignored them. Assuming this phenomenon is not a bug, what does this mean?

If this creature is part of this huge puzzle and the legend of the Black Bird is related to the colossus Roc, it means that the game is trying to tell the players that there is more to the secret content that the game may contain. What happens is that, like the Shrine of Adoration and Dormin which bring biblical references to the Tower of Babel and Nimrod (because of the name "Dormin" read backwards), the Secret Garden and forbidden fruits that also bear references Biblical references to the Garden of Eden and the forbidden fruit eaten by Eve, the Temple of the Sun and the oval rock bearing references of the legend of the Phoenix (Altar of the Sun and the egg of myrrh), the Colossal Tree and Roc can bring Nordic references of Yggdrasil and Niðhöggr. Yggdrasil is a colossal tree located in the center of the universe that connects the nine worlds of Nordic cosmology and each world was guarded by a Norse god. Meanwhile, Niðhöggr is a huge dragon living in Niflheim and bears the deepest roots of the Yggdrasil tree, aiming to destroy it, awaiting the Ragnarök. That is, the relationship that the colossus Roc (legendary Black Bird) possesses with the Colossal Tree of the game can be the same as that of Yggdrasil and Niðhöggr of Norse mythology, for Roc is a colossus that has the appearance of a dragon, being often confused with the appearance of a black bird. However, the colossus Roc may be the response of the Colossal Tree being completely destroyed during the game, and live during the game's initial menu before Wander enters the Forbidden Land, being only a piece of a puzzle that can convey a message hidden from a small hope of having something more in the game.

But the biggest reason we should understand is: Why does the Colossal Tree attract the attention of the players?
The reason is that it can convey a hidden message to players that the procedure to release the supposed Secret Ending should be done near a dry tree similar to Colossal Tree, in addition to several shoots around this dry tree, because of the shoots young people standing on top of the cave. In addition, there would have to be a live tree being seen at the bottom of this dry tree at the procedure site, because of the Colossal Tree alive in the game's initial menu that is seen in the background. That is, if we identify the place with all this evidence, we will find the Arena of the 11th colossus. Watch:

Through the images above, this takes us back to the Arena of the 11th colossus which is exactly the location of the center of the cross formed by the Intersecting Points, that is, the place to release the supposed Secret Ending.

While young sprouts are the visible part of early-stage plants, the Colossal Tree located above the Sandstone Cavern (Arena of the 10th Colossus) is considered to be the oldest plant in the Forbidden Land for its immense size and by not having more leaves in their branches.

The Brazilian player Tchollo Ventura made a comment through a video on his youtube channel, that in the initial menu of the game, the Colossal Tree (marked in the red circle in the image below) is alive with its leaves in its branches. The video of his remark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yakp8HzI2a4

What were the reasons why the Colossal Tree lost its leaves in its branches, becoming a dead vegetable?

There are two reasons that may explain the end of the Colossal Tree:

- First reason: Since the Forbidden Land has its own atmosphere and it is speculated that time is stopped there being only sunny days because the place may have been sealed in another dimension next to Dormin, the excess of light rays can be harmful to the photosynthesis of the plants, affecting their growth and leading to reduced productivity. This stress condition is known as photoinhibition, as we can observe the result of the Colossal Tree.

- Second reason: The legend of the Black Bird.

Roc - The other supposed colossus excluded from the game
